Publishing your site, and what you pay
Making a site, choosing a design and editing it are free. Publishing is the moment money changes hands, and it is the only one.

Per site. Both are the same product — the yearly price is the discount for committing to a year, and you can have one site on each.
Add-ons, if you want them, are separate and always optional: your own domain is 99¢ a month more, and Forms, Bookings and Shop are priced individually.
What happens when you press Publish
- The editor reads your whole site and shows you what it found — sample text still in place, links that go nowhere. None of it blocks you.
- It shows you what will change on the live site, with anything being removed listed separately and first.
- You publish. Your pages are written out as a new version and swapped in as the live one, all at once — nobody ever sees a half-finished site.
- If you have not paid for this site yet, you will see: "Published. The files are in — the site starts serving once it's paid for." Your work is safe and stored; it goes live the moment the site is paid for.
To pay, open the site in your portal. It says "Your files are in" with a Publish button. The confirmation screen after it shows the exact amount, the exact date of the next charge and the terms, all before you enter a card.
When it is live
Your site answers at:
yourname.lemonhosted.comwith a padlock. That address is free and included, and it keeps working even if you later add a domain of your own.
"I published and I can't see it"
Three ordinary reasons, in order of likelihood:
- It has not been paid for. Files are accepted before payment; they serve after it. Your site's page in the portal says so plainly.
- Your browser is showing you the old page. Hard-refresh, or open it in a private window.
- It is waiting on our review. A small number of new sites are checked by a person before going out. You will see an amber notice saying so, and an email when it clears.
Changing it later
Publish as often as you like — it is included and there is no limit. Every published version is kept for 7 days and can be put back in one click. See Going back to an earlier version.
Renewal
Your site renews automatically on the same date each year, or each month. Billing shows the next date and amount, and you can stop the renewal at any time without losing the time you have paid for — see Stopping renewal, deleting, and refunds.
