Stopping renewal, deleting, and refunds
There are three separate things people mean by "cancel", and they do different things. Pick by what you want to happen to the site.

Stop renewal
The one most people want. Nothing changes today: your site keeps serving to the minute of the date you have paid through, and then comes down. No further charges.
You can undo it any time before that date, from the same place, and nothing has been lost.
The site's card and your Billing page both show the end date in amber from then on, so it cannot come as a surprise.
Delete
This takes the site offline immediately and ends its subscription. There is no refund for the rest of the term through this route.
It asks you to type the site's name back before it will do it, on purpose.
Your files are kept for 30 days. During that time the site sits in the trash on your Sites page, showing the date it will be erased and a button to put it back — you do not need to ask us. Its address is held for you the whole time, so nobody else can take it.
After 30 days it is erased for good: not recoverable by you and not by us. If you want a copy, get it before you delete.

Refunds
A site's first payment — the one that put it online — is fully refundable for 30 days. That is the whole guarantee, plainly:
- It covers the payment that first paid for the site.
- It runs for 30 days from that payment, and day 30 counts.
- It does not cover later renewals, or add-ons like a domain or a paid design.
Billing shows a Refundable? column with the days left, so you never have to work it out.
To get one, email [email protected] from the address on the account. There is no button for it yet. Say which site; you do not have to give a reason.
A refunded first payment ends that site's hosting, which is the honest consequence of undoing the purchase.
Closing your whole account
Account → Close account. It signs you out everywhere and closes the account.
It will refuse while you still have a paid, live site — cancel that from its own page first, so nothing keeps billing by accident. Any remaining sites are moved to the trash and follow the same 30-day retention.
Changed your mind within 30 days? Email us and we can reopen it.
If you cannot get into your account
Email [email protected] and we will stop a renewal for you. Not being able to sign in is never a reason to be charged again.
