Editing your site
Does the editor save my work?
Yes. The editor saves by itself about a second and a half after you stop typing. There is no Save button because there is nothing for it to do.
The word in the top bar is the truth

If it says Couldn't save, do not close the tab. Check your connection, then make one small change to trigger another attempt.
Saved is not the same as live
Two separate things, and knowing which is which saves a lot of worry.
- Your draft is what you are editing. It saves constantly. Nobody but you can see it.
- Your live site is what visitors get, and it only ever changes when you press Publish.
So you can leave a half-finished page for a week without anybody seeing it.
If you close the tab by accident
The editor keeps a copy in your own browser as well as sending it to us. When you come back it will offer:
with Restore them and Discard. It never applies them by itself, and it only offers them when they belong to the same design and the same version — so it cannot quietly overwrite newer work.
If you close a tab with a change still in flight, your browser asks you to confirm first.
"This site is open in another window"
The editor lets one window at a time make changes. If you see:
you have the site open twice — a second tab, another computer, or a colleague. Close the other one, or press Take over here to make this window the one that saves.
The hold lapses about three minutes after the other window last saved anything, so a tab you closed without thinking will stop blocking you shortly.
"This site changed somewhere else"
Somebody — or you, elsewhere — saved a newer version than the one on your screen.
- Reload takes the newer version and loses what is on this screen.
- Take over here keeps what is on this screen.
Take over will not silently discard newer work; if the version underneath is genuinely ahead, it asks you to reload first.
Undo
⌘Z / Ctrl+Z steps back, ⇧⌘Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z steps forward. The History button lists every step since you opened the tab, newest first, and clicking one goes back to it — that counts as a step too, so nothing is lost either way.
That list is for this tab only and clears when you close it. The list that survives is your version history: see Going back to an earlier version.
