Point your own domain at your site
If you already own a domain — yourbakery.com — you can put your Lemonade Host site on it. Your free .lemonhosted.com address keeps working too.
What it costs
99¢ a month, on the same schedule the site is already on. So on a yearly site it is $11.88 a year alongside the site's $11.88.
You are charged only once the domain is actually working. Setting it up costs nothing, and if you never finish, you are never billed. That is not a grace period — the charge is created by the domain going live, not by you starting.
What you do
Your site → Domain → type the domain you own.
We look up who runs the domain — the company answering for it, which is often not the company you bought it from — and show you that company's own steps, in their own words, with the exact records to add. You do not have to work out whether you are at your registrar or somewhere else; we tell you.
Then you sign in there, add the records we show you, and come back. The page checks by itself while you watch, and you can close the tab and come back later.
The two records
You will be given two records to add:
- The address record — the one for the name you typed. This is required.
- The redirect record — the other half of the pair, so that whichever way somebody types your domain they land on your site. Optional, and worth doing.
Both point at your site's own .lemonhosted.com address. Copy them exactly, including the dots.
How long it takes
Usually a few minutes. Occasionally a few hours, and that is out of everybody's hands — it depends on how quickly your domain company publishes the change.
The page walks through four stages so you always know where you are: waiting for the records, waiting for them to spread, issuing your certificate, live. The certificate is automatic and usually takes under a minute once the records resolve.
Certificates and HTTPS
Included, on every address your site answers on, and renewed for you. There is nothing to buy and nothing to install.
If it is not working
- Give it an hour. Most "not working" is "not yet".
- Check for a typo in the record. One missing letter in the target is the commonest cause by a distance.
- Check you added it to the right domain, if you own several.
- Check for an old record with the same name from a previous website. Two records for the same name is the second commonest cause. Delete the old one.
- Your domain company will not let you point the bare name. This is genuinely common. See www.yourname.com, or just yourname.com? — the page gives you a one-click way round it.
An unfinished domain is dropped after 14 days. Nothing happens to your site or your domain; you just start again when you are ready.

Up to five domains per site. Each one is 99¢ a month.
Buying a domain
We do not sell domains. Buy one anywhere you like and point it here — you keep it in your own name, at your own registrar, which is how it should be.
